Description

This book traces the birth and growth of Reggio Emilia’s municipal preschools and infant-toddler centres. Conceived as a wide-ranging research project, it brings together the voices and reflections of many leading figures.

What emerges is a collective autobiography—a vivid narrative interwoven with countless other stories, spun, as Loris Malaguzzi once said, into “a long yet slender thread of silk”:

“…a history fashioned in this way might seem to be a tale that has drifted through years and seasons… yet experiences of this kind, so anomalous, always travel on threads of silk.”

The volume includes interviews and essays by Renzo Bonazzi, Simona Bonilauri, Ettore Borghi, Jerome Bruner, Antonio Canovi, Luciano Corradini, Gunilla Dahlberg, Graziano Delrio, Paul Ginsborg, Loris Malaguzzi, Carla Rinaldi and Vea Vecchi.
